BuddyPress and BuddyBoss are both WordPress plugins that add social networking features, such as user profiles, user groups, private messaging, friend connections, and activity streams, to any WordPress site.

In this article, you will learn how to monetize groups in BuddyPress and BuddyBoss. By so doing, users will have to pay before they can gain access to specific groups.

Monetizing BuddyPress and BuddyBoss Groups

To get started monetizing user groups in BuddyPress and BuddyBoss, ensure you have installed and activated the ProfilePress plugin on your WordPress site. It is also important to set the BuddyPress/BuddyBoss group privacy to either private or hidden, as you do not want any users to join and view the group content.

Next, in your WordPress dashboard, go to ProfilePress > Addons and enable the BuddyPress/BuddyBoss addon.

Next, create the membership plan in ProfilePress to sell access to groups in BuddyPress and BuddyBoss.

Go to ProfilePress >> Membership Plans to create a new membership plan or open up the edit screen of an existing plan that you want to use to sell your course.

Give the plan a name, description, and price.

ProfilePress has a built-in field called Purchase Note, which is displayed to the customer after a successful purchase on the order confirmation page and in the customer’s receipt email. Consider using this field to provide instructions or the next steps for joining the group, along with a link to the group page.

Use the Subscription Settings section to set the plan fee as a recurring payment that can be charged daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannually, or annually.

Finally, on the Downloads & Integrations section, open the “BuddyPress/BuddyBoss” tab and select the groups to grant users access after purchasing the membership plan.
